What is Kybella?
Kybella is the Ultimate non-surgical solution for double chin reduction. It is an FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to reduce submental fat, commonly known as a double chin. This revolutionary, non-surgical procedure involves a series of small injections that target and destroy fat cells under the chin, resulting in a more contoured and youthful appearance.
Kybella's active ingredient is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella effectively destroys fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over time. Once these cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, making the results long-lasting.

Preparation Details
To best prepare for success with Kybella, follow the steps below before your appointment.
Prepare for downtime. Arrange your schedule to accommodate any potential swelling or bruising after the procedure. You may want to avoid social events or work commitments for a few days post-treatment.
Purchase post-treatment supplies like ice packs, arnica gel (for bruising), and over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen.
For 1 week before your appointment, avoid blood thinners & dehydrating substances like caffeine, alcohol, St. John’s Wart, Ginko Biloba, primrose oil, fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, ibuprofen or similar products (Advil, Motrin, Aleve). They can cause bruising, bumps, more visible pinpoint marks, and lack of volume.
For 1 week before & 1 week after your Kybella appointment, avoid tretinoin, retinal, retinoids, glycolic acid, peels, and skin-sensitizing products in the treatment area..
Remove all makeup in the treatment areas before your appointment.
For 72 hours before & 72 hours after your appointment, avoid highly processed foods since they greatly dehydrate the body. Instead, eat spinach, kale, and celery the week before to boost your Vitamin K levels.
Drink 1/2 gallon or more water daily for 48 hours before and after treatment.
24 hours before your filler appointment, take arnica montana tablets to help with swelling and bruising. You can also take arnica as needed afterward.
24 hours before your appointment, take an anti-inflammatory like Tylenol™ to help with swelling and bruising.
Avoid flying or saunas for 24 hours before and after your appointment, as they can dehydrate the body.
Avoid rigorous workouts for 24 hours before and after your appointments.
1 hour before your appointment, consider taking (2) Extra-Strength Tylenol™, which may help ease injection discomfort (avoid ASA, Advil, or Motrin).
Avoid caffeine on the day of treatment.
Arrive at your appointment with a clean face (or other treatment area), free of products or cosmetics.
Kybella FAQ
How does Kybella work?
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that targets and reduces submental fat, commonly known as a double chin. It contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, which are then naturally metabolized by the body over time, resulting in a slimmer, more defined jawline. Multiple sessions may be needed to achieve desired results, with minimal downtime and long-lasting effects.

How many Kybella sessions do I need to get rid of my double chin?
The number of Kybella sessions needed to eliminate a double chin varies depending on the amount of submental fat and individual treatment goals. Most patients require 2 to 4 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart, though some may need up to 6 sessions for optimal results. Each session gradually reduces the fat under the chin, with visible improvements typically appearing after the second treatment. A consultation with a qualified provider can help determine the exact number of sessions required to achieve a more contoured jawline.
How many vials can I expect to do in one session?
Before each session, you will be clinically assessed to determine the number of vials per session. It can vary based on starting amount of submental fat and desired results. There is maximum of 5 vials in any one session.
How far apart should my Kybella sessions be timed?
Kybella treatments should be spaced at least one month apart, so it's important to ensure an appropriate time has passed since the last treatment.

KYBELLA HEALING
Following treatment, most patients experience some redness and swelling. Swelling after Kybella injections is a common side effect and typically lasts between 2 to 3 weeks. Swelling usually peaks within the first 48 hours after treatment and gradually subsides over the following days. In some cases, mild swelling may persist for up to a month, especially after the first treatment session. The severity and duration of swelling can vary based on individual factors, including the amount of fat treated and the number of injections administered. Applying cold compresses and keeping your head elevated can help manage swelling during the recovery period. Occasionally, you might also notice bruising that could be visible for a few days. To minimize bruising and swelling, avoid activities that boost circulation for the remainder of the day. These include exercise, heat, and alcohol consumption.
When scheduling your appointments and social activities, remember that you may experience these temporary, minor, and unavoidable signs of treatment so you can plan accordingly.
